Minimum qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience in cybersecurity, with 5 years of experience in security engineering, detection, or anti-abuse roles.
  • 5 years of experience managing global technical teams.
  • Experience in two or more of the following domains: data science/machine learning, cloud security, detection engineering, or abuse/fraud prevention.
  • Experience defining roadmaps, articulating systems to executive audiences, and working with engineering and product management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in a 24/7 operations environment and driving automation and scale to improve detection efficacy.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable executive communication and strategic plans.
  • Expertise in the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem, security services, and infrastructure.

About the job

As the Director of Security Operations for Google Cloud, you will be responsible for defining and executing the strategic and technical vision for defense against security threats and abuse at global scale. You'll work within the Cloud CISO product area, leading the highly technical function that builds and operates the core operational security capabilities for Google Cloud’s services and infrastructure.

You'll utilize a unique blend of executive-level strategic leadership and deep technical expertise in security engineering to manage large-scale, 24/7 security operations in a cloud environment. You'll drive the roadmap for using advanced data science, machine learning, and automation to preemptively reduce security and abuse risks across Google Cloud.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $294,000-$414,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define the multi-year technical vision for next-generation security operations, detection engineering, and anti-abuse capabilities across GCP.
  • Oversee the technical roadmap for analytical platforms and data science, ensuring infrastructure is optimized for speed and real-time threat analysis.
  • Develop a holistic incident management and Incident Response (IR) capability, directing anti-abuse analytics to protect GCP enterprises and cloud infrastructure.
  • Build strong executive relationships to integrate data-driven insights, influence partner roadmaps, and achieve quantifiable risk reduction.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of security engineers. Manage the budget and project prioritization while ensuring compliance and regulatory adherence.
