Senior Equipment Engineer, Metrology, Raxium

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting metrology equipment (ellipsometers, AFM tools, or optical metrology systems).
  • Experience practicing metrology principles/techniques and using electronic test equipment/diagnostic tools.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience developing and delivering technical training programs, and creating detailed, accurate documentation for metrology systems.
  • Experience working with specialized metrology techniques.
  • Ability to manage vendor partnerships and successfully lead equipment-related projects, ensuring timely and efficient outcomes.
  • Ability to integrate and optimize metrology tools within automated manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to implement process improvements using data analysis to optimize equipment performance and reliability, with a proactive and problem solving approach.

About the job

The Raxium Facility and Equipment team maintains a broad range of semiconductor/facility equipment and cleanroom infrastructure. Our expertise lies in understanding the relationship between semiconductor processing and its support equipment, enabling us to troubleshoot problems, execute tasks, and collaborate on installing, modifying, maintaining, and repairing cleanroom and facility support equipment.

As an Equipment Engineer, you will support our microLED and AR development. This role focuses on expert-level maintenance, support, and optimization of our advanced metrology systems.

In this role, you will focus on ensuring the reliability and accuracy of critical metrology tools used in semiconductor or related manufacturing environments. You will leverage their experience to support installations, troubleshoot issues, implement preventative maintenance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Google's Raxium display group has established a revolutionary semiconductor materials display technology that enables new functionality in display products, bringing to users a closer and more natural linkage between the digital and physical realms in applications such as augmented reality (AR) and light-field display. With start-up roots and a state-of-the-art compound semiconductor fab in Silicon Valley, Raxium is seeking to build upon its engineering team with an aim to disrupt next-generation display markets.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on metrology tools (ellipsometers, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), optical systems, etc.) to minimize downtime.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures, calibrations, and upgrades to enhance equipment accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and vendors, collaborating to resolve metrology-related challenges.
  • Identify process improvements and provide technical training. Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and performance.
