Web Solutions Engineer, Data Warehousing

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in full-stack software development and system design.
  • Experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL), data warehousing, and building data pipelines (e.g., ETL).
  • Experience with front end languages (e.g., JavaScript or TypeScript).
  • Experience with backend languages (e.g., Java, Python, or C++).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4 years of experience working with Google Cloud's DataFlow and BigQuery or analogous cloud technologies.
  • 4 years of experience building and maintaining a data warehouse.
  • 2 years of experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders on project requirements.
  • 2 years of experience with software development life cycle processes (e.g., waterfall and agile).
  • Knowledge of Google’s Ads products, sales teams or service teams.

About the job

Global Business and Operations Engineering (GBO) is an embedded Product and Engineering team within Google’s ad sales organization. We build consumer-grade internal tooling for sales, marketing and service teams.

Our cross-functional team of engineers, designers and product managers is responsible for internal platforms that support Sales and Marketing teams to run events, deliver professional services and manage large, commercial agreements with ads customers. These tools are part of a cohesive suite of internal tools that power the day-to-day workflows of thousands of Googlers in sales and marketing and meaningfully drive business outcomes.

As a Web Solutions Engineer, you will focus on building, designing, and deploying a scalable, robust data warehouse. You will partner with a team of engineers, product managers, and analysts, to build new features to support Google's internal sellers. You will deliver full pieces of functionality on moderately complex projects with minimal assistance. You will architect high quality software, and design key tools and systems as part of infrastructure consisting of web applications, data pipelines, business processes, and more. Your contributions will directly impact Google's ad sales business at scale.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000-$176,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and monitor production software with a focus on data engineering/warehousing in addition to web application development.
  • Utilize industry and Google software engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and partner engineers to deliver new features.
  • Build a robust data pipeline and warehouse using industry standard and Google-specific tooling.
  • Write and review technical documents, including design, development, and revision documents.
