Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience in project or construction management, specifically with network infrastructure (i.e., fiber optic cabling, cable tray, racks, etc.).
  • 5 years of experience working with outside design consultants on new data center designs from layout construction documents.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in data centers or similar mission-critical environments with formal change control processes and impact to core functionalities.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager focused on Data Center Network Infrastructure Construction, you will leverage your experience and technical expertise to lead projects with numerous cross-functional teams. You will plan requirements with internal customers and external partners to usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes working with customers to develop project scopes, managing project schedules, identifying risks, and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. Your project teams can span offices, time zones, and hemispheres; it is your job to keep all stakeholders coordinated and informed on the project's progress and schedule. You will manage projects of various sizes and scopes, identifying future opportunities, improving processes, and driving the technical direction of your programs. You will use your experience managing technical projects in a changing industry and your ability to tolerate ambiguity and demonstrate problem-solving leadership with limited oversight.The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are an upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,000-$237,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Support cross-functional partner and site-based execution teams by providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) technical guidance and serving as a metro liaison for the program management team.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into prioritized deliverables.
  • Ensure as-built information is provided to internal teams in a timely manner and perform Quality Analysis/Quality Check (QA/QC) of all deliverables.
  • Consult on post-IFC changes to construction documents to ensure technical accuracy.
  • Advise onsite construction management teams during the construction phase.
