Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, or another field that uses quantitative analysis, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 9 years of experience in an analytical HR role, management consulting (e.g., strategy, compensation), or similar analytical role.
  • 4 years of experience in compensation.
  • 3 years of experience in people management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience supporting executive-level management in a corporate environment.
  • Experience in a tech company or an environment with unique talent.
  • Ability to proactively experiment with Google AI tools, demonstrating a commitment to improve efficiency and ways of working.
  • Ability to grow in a fast-paced environment by adjusting strategies as needed to creatively solve problems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust with executive stakeholders and influence others to align direction.

About the job

In this role, you will own the strategic roadmap for critical, high-stakes reward programs, acting as a thought-leader and authoritative advisor to senior leadership, proactively identifying organizational gaps, and driving holistic solutions that ensure we remain a competitive destination for global AI talent. You'll own the delivery of critical programs with organization-wide impact. You will operate independently of organizational boundaries, advocating for long-term improvements to DeepMind-wide initiatives. You will serve as a reward expert, setting the standards for reward practices and nurturing talent through mentorship and coaching. While you lead through influence rather than hierarchy, you will be responsible for forming strategic cross-functional alliances that align the business with our overarching mission.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $230,400-$320,400 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, proactively identifying complex challenges and providing strategic POVs to shape the long-term reward philosophy. 
  • Lead high-stakes programs, advocating for holistic improvements that go beyond immediate asks. 
  • Form strategic alliances across DeepMind and Google, influencing stakeholders with competing objectives to align on the mission.
  • Set the standards for Reward as a go-to authority, coaching others to elevate the expertise of the broader People and Culture team. 
  • Solve problems holistically, ensuring solutions integrate with DeepMind’s culture and demonstrating expert judgement. Remain confident working directly with data to support or disprove hypotheses, while role-modeling AI adoption and novel technical solutions to innovate existing practices and solve critical challenges.
