Lab Equipment Manager, Product Integrity Engineering

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hardware Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in applying Design for Reliability techniques.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX, etc.).
  • Experience with network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with environmental chamber support and repair.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Good Lab Practices (GLP), enforcing compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and enforcing proper lab etiquette.
  • Ability to specify and install test equipment, safety equipment, and knowledge of facilities work and capability to troubleshoot.
  • Ability to be ethical and responsible, and an understanding of data-driven decision-making methodology.
  • Ability to enforce OSHA requirements.
  • Independent, detail oriented, and effective verbal/written communicator.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for work, including international travel.

About the job

As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution and failure analysis. A broad engineering background and command of statistical methods will help to inform design of new products. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be key to ensuring adoption of your technical recommendations.

The Product Integrity Engineering group conducts reliability tests of Google hardware products and investigations into failed materials, components, assemblies, and products during development, production, and use. Those labs are using state-of-the-art facilities and equipment to create and accelerate stress conditions on the devices to better predict field performance, study the characteristics of materials, understand failure mechanisms, and understand/prevent safety issues. Lab personnel work closely with product teams and other cross-functional teams to drive corrective actions within Google and throughout the supply chain.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Oversee global calibration and maintenance programs, ensuring timely equipment upkeep and budget management.
  • Lead lab fit-up and construction projects, providing guidance for international projects and documenting processes.
  • Manage Equipment and Facilities technicians, providing training and ensuring emergency response readiness.
  • Optimize lab consumables purchasing, implementing inventory management and simplifying processes.
  • Maintain and improve the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring accurate equipment and supply tracking.
