Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in engineering or technical program management, working cross-functionally with development teams to develop and manage hardware projects.
  • 3 years of experience in consumer electronics or hardware.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Hardware Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience launching and commercializing new products and features.
  • Ability to work closely with engineers to navigate ambiguity and early stage technologies.
  • Ability to manage programs effectively, and influence large teams, including executives.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop strategy, define and drive ambiguous consumer hardware programs by identifying and defining challenges and decomposing them into workstreams.
  • Navigate through ambiguity to define and drive programs that span Electrical Engineering (EE), Optics, Physical Design (PD), Product Management (PM), and Software across internal teams, external partners, and contract manufacturers.
  • Build effective program teams and lead them to make timely, data based decisions across a broad range of technical disciplines through decision-making processes.
  • Establish a cadence for program reviews and phase-gate meetings and represent programs in the portfolio across product area-level touchpoints.
  • Maintain and propagate high-level program perspectives across the team to help team members solve the right problems.
