Senior Software Engineer, Maps

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience working in software platform engineering with programming experience.
  • 3 years of experience with C/C++, Java, Python, Go, or other scripting languages.
  • Experience explaining technical problems to engineers, business development, and internal/external executives.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical related field.
  • Experience with Maps products and services.
  • Experience working with enterprise stakeholders (specifically automakers).
  • Experience collaborating effectively across time zones.
  • Ability to deliver results in a complex, matrixed environment and drive alignment across cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate in Korean fluently to represent complex business or technical matters internally and externally.

The Geo Auto Forward Deployed Engineering team collaborates extensively with a diverse array of global partners leveraging Geo Automotive products to develop and integrate cutting-edge navigation solutions for their vehicles. Geo’s mission is to power the most helpful, trusted, and innovative digital representation of the real world for the user ecosystems we serve, and our primary objective in the Automotive market is to “Have Maps available in as many vehicles as possible”. Forward Deployed Engineering is dedicated to aligning the strategic objectives of Google with those of our partners, ensuring comprehensive fulfillment of automotive navigation experiences through seamless integration of Geo Automotive products across both edge and cloud platforms.

As the Senior Software Engineer Engineer, you will see the product start from an idea and end up on the road. You'll collaborate with different teams specializing in cutting-edge areas like navigation, cutting-edge automotive sensors, high-end embedded compute, complicated software and electrical architectures, sustainable transportation, and advanced manufacturing. You will see both the engineering and business side of guiding products to production.

The Android Auto team collaborate with vehicle manufacturers to develop and deliver on this massive opportunity, building on a proven embedded platform to create a leading Assistant-powered, navigation, entertainment, and communication vehicle system, which will be delivered to specialized people-moving devices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to automotive partners through the evaluation, integration, and launch of Geo Auto’s offerings.
  • Extend products and features while capturing and representing our partner’s technical needs.
  • Develop, maintain, and deploy internal and external tools to evaluate and integrate Geo Auto's offerings, as well as create reference sample apps to demonstrate product features.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on performance-centric issues with Geo Auto products, driving resolution by analyzing partner’s architecture, identifying root causes, and proposing solutions.
  • Collaborate with partners to create technical solutions that integrate existing functionality and align with the product roadmap.
