Technical Program Manager, Search Vertical

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of Technical Program Management experience.
  • 5 years of experience with the software development life-cycle, quality assurance testing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing effective and data-driven communication with diverse stakeholders via email, written documents, and slides.
  • Experience with machine learning platforms, including training and inference systems.
  • Experience in managing external partners and vendors, Ability to solve problems and act independently.
  • Ability to successfully manage strategic and operationally complex projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent data analysis skills.

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of projects within the Language vertical team, be responsible for project planning, managing schedules, setting milestones, and project tracking.
  • Navigate multiple, interdependent work streams, technical concepts, and conversations across different areas and stakeholders to drive collaboration and consensus.
  • Build relationships and act as the bridge to infrastructure and other feature development teams across the organization. Lead overall communication within the team and outside to stakeholders and leads.
  • Lead the integration with external partners, gathering internal requirements, closely communicating with partners and using negotiation skills to influence partners to deliver our requirements.
  • Use leadership and technical judgment to drive project delivery, working with engineering and product management.
