Image Signal Processor, Silicon Validation Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of silicon validation experience.
  • Experience with computer architecture practices.
  • Experience programming in C/C++, Python, or Bash.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with an emphasis on computer architecture.
  • Experience with software development tools such as version control, compilers, or build tools.
  • Experience with software debug tools and hardware debug tools (JTAG/TRACE32).
  • Experience with emulation platforms, FPGAs or silicon bring up.
  • Experience with Android, Embedded Linux, or Little Kernel.
  • Familiarity with hardware accelerators for camera or multimedia systems.

The Multimedia Silicon Validation team at Google focuses on hero features of upcoming Tensor SoCs. This high-performing team validates camera use-cases using pre- and post-silicon validation environments. Validation scope includes accelerators for image processing, embedded DSP cores, ML inference accelerators and more. We use a variety of emulation platforms to increase our velocity as a team and work with embedded operating systems to develop test content.

As a member of the Image Signal Processor (ISP) Silicon Validation team, you will develop and execute software tests for the ISP used in Google Tensor. This role will involve developing tests that execute in a variety of environments ranging from bare metal to embedded Linux, on a variety of platforms ranging from FPGA emulation to post-silicon hardware. In addition, you will support users of this hardware through collaboration with teams outside of the silicon group. This includes supporting Production Software teams in development and debug collaborations.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $127,000-$187,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop, and execute software tests to validate ISP blocks and integration.
  • Read hardware specifications, identify and develop test cases to run on FPGA emulation and silicon.
  • Development of software test methodologies/techniques.
  • Support volume production through screening and characterization tests.
  • Support power measurements, correlation, and debug.
