Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in workplace strategy, design, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in people management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Experience working in a large, complex organization, navigating ambiguity and driving change at scale.
  • Deep understanding of human-centered design principles and methodologies, with a passion for creating exceptional user experiences.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address systemic challenges.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.

The Director of Workplace and User Experience is a strategic leadership role responsible for both shaping and integrating Real Estate & Workplace Services' (REWS) workplace strategies and solutions to create a human-centered, high-performing, and future-proof work environment that aligns with Google’s values, culture and business goals and enhances the Googler experience. The Director will lead a team of researchers, strategists, and solutions consultants responsible for conducting user research, gathering insights, and translating those insights into intentional workplace solutions that drive organizational performance and Googler satisfaction.

The Real Estate and Workplace Services (REWS) team creates inspiring spaces and innovative services that bring Google’s culture and values to life. We build and maintain all aspects of what keeps our Googley workspaces operating seamlessly across multiple cities and regions globally. We also manage the industry-leading services that help make Google a great place to work -- from how we design healthy and collaborative workspaces, create energizing food experiences, provide convenient transportation and fitness options, to delivering inclusive environments where Google and our employees can thrive.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $230,000-$331,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive workplace strategy that aligns with the organization's values, culture, and business goals.
  • Guide and inspire Research and Insights and Integrated Solutions professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Drive a holistic research, insights, and analytics agenda for REWS Workplace. Oversee the team responsible for conducting user research, gathering data, and analyzing insights to understand Googler needs, work styles, and preferences to inform workplace design and technology solutions.
  • Establish clear metrics and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of workplace strategies and initiatives, demonstrating the impact on the Googler experience, productivity, and business outcomes.
