Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • 3 years of experience in leadership roles with/without direct reports.
  • Experience in safety design and engineering in an industrial or other mission critical setting.
  • Experience with data center or other mission critical technology.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in related area (ie. Engineering, Process Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene).
  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in related building and industrial design safety standards (ANSI, ISO, NFPA, OSHA, Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), ATEX EU Directive).
  • Knowledge of data center operations, facilities management, engineering and construction.
  • Ability to identify key issues, gather and analyze large complex data sets to support hypotheses and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the innovative data center products and designs prioritize and ensure the well-being and safety of the individuals interacting with these products throughout the entire lifecycle of the technical infrastructure; from design, construction, operation, and eventual dismantling.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,000-$237,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) and direct the design for safety (DfS) team in executing comprehensive, lifecycle Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) risk assessments for new infrastructure and data center designs.
  • Lead collaborative efforts across site, regional, and global levels to mitigate EHS risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver high-quality, timely DfS deliverables. 
  • Onboard, educate, and consistently guide cross-functional stakeholders on established EHS Design for safety technical standards and processes.
  • Partner with stakeholders to explore and implement emerging technologies and engineering designs that elevate overall EHS performance.
  • Refine and advance established DfS standards and processes by integrating industry best practices, subject matter expertise, and lessons learned.
