Data Center Operations Manager, Aurora

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware.
  • 5 years of experience managing technical teams, vendor or agreement management and delivery.
  • Active US Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) security clearance with polygraph.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and rotations/shifts.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in data center environments, building and operating large-scale infrastructure, network and compute architecture and lifecycle, and Linux/Unix system administration.
  • Experience initiating and executing planned initiatives in a global environment.
  • Ability to lead and improve Environmental Health and Safety initiatives.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed.

About the job

As a Data Center Operations Manager, you will manage a team of Data Center Technicians and Engineers. You will oversee the quality installation of server hardware and components and take charge of complicated installations/troubleshooting. The team members will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software. They will also take on the configuration of components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols. They may lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.Google Public Sector brings the magic of Google to the mission of government and education with solutions purpose-built for enterprises. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000-$185,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Set and communicate individual and team priorities that support organizational goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Partner with teams to meet goals and stakeholders to manage facility activities and set or implement short- and long-term strategies.
  • Maintain, monitor, and execute security and operational procedures and track or analyze trends to identify opportunities for improvements ensuring alignment with organizational policies.
  • Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues.
