Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working on public policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, relevant industry associations, or a company.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in a program or project management capacity.
  • Experience to manage short and long-term projects and drive them to completion.
  • Ability to lead and evaluate issues on their own in a changing environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly assessing and partnering regulatory or legislative text.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including tracking and managing milestones, stakeholder feedback, reviews, and action items.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong track record of executing cross-functional projects, and the ability to assess a problem from multiple perspectives.

As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. The YouTube’s Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with government officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy.

In this role, you will focus on issues affecting the internet. Our areas of focus are increasingly broad and encompass many intersections of public policy, business, and technology. Within GAPP, the Product and Business Policy team analyzes and drives outcomes of global regulatory proposals to support product and business goals. You will act as a trusted subject matter expert and advisor, supporting external strategy, informing product and business roadmaps, guiding internal decision-making, and driving proactive initiatives to advance our public policy, business, and product goals.

Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $90,500-$132,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Support the YouTube GAPP team in managing programs, projects, outreach, and initiatives.
  • Work with key stakeholders to plan, coordinate, and gain approval for initiatives and launches.
  • Develop resources to support our global public policy team’s work with regulators, trade associations, industry partners, non-profits, and partners.
  • Support the team’s advocacy efforts, work with internal stakeholders to devise new programs and initiatives and evaluate existing ones for areas of improvement.
  • Drive projects through the project life-cycle, oversee and lead coordination on key programs, and provide status and progress updates to stakeholders.
