Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience in software engineering, building/operating distributed, global platforms.
- 10 years of experience designing secure cloud services and addressing scaling challenges in hybrid, multi-cloud environments.
- 10 years of experience with quality, safety, and performance issues arising in the newly emerging space of GenAI based tools and applications.
Preferred qualifications:
- 20 years of combined experience in engineering, product management, and developer relations leadership.
- Experience with Open Source Software (OSS), such as W3C, Linux Foundation, Cloud Native Computing Foundation, or other standard bodies or foundations.
- Experience innovating and transforming services with generative AI at the intersection of consumer products, emerging technology, and enterprise solutions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams across different disciplines and organizations.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

As a Distinguished Engineer, you will help shape the future of Google for Developers and create breakthroughs in our Developer X product portfolio for an AI-first world. You will own the coherence, performance, and differentiation of the Developer X product portfolio, ensuring it enables sustainable business success and innovation, with particular focus on delivering convergence and future-focused capabilities. You will introduce new products or changes to products with accelerating velocity while incurring sublinear growth in cost per feature and per release. You will be seen as a critical leader to internal and external partners, with a deep understanding of key user needs, managing priorities of execution, development, critical escalations, and overall metrics.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $323,000-$465,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Deliver an aspirational technical vision for Developer X products to empower both today’s professionals and the next-generation of developers. Drive major technical strategies that have impact beyond adjacent teams, across multiple product areas and common infrastructure and in partnership with your Google Cloud peers.
- Be a catalyst for the development and delivery of application development infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and observability. Drive forward-thinking and innovative approaches to anticipate and address some of Google's most challenging/deepest or new technical problems and develop solutions where precedent may not exist and the best option may not be clear.
- Direct multiple complex workstreams with competing priorities and influence the organization to drive alignment of different strategies in line with operational goals, objectives, product vision, and security roadmap.
