About the job
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google Cloud's services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to customer's needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE’s will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance.
Responsibilities
- Partner with engineering leaders across Google Cloud product areas (e.g., Databases, Networking, Storage, etc.) to help them understand the project and identify systems improvements to reduce the need for human production touches.
- Act as systems thinker, help product areas analyze their production access patterns, and identify workflows that can be automated or engineered away.
- Lead by example through direct contributions to technical work and designs, prototypes, and initial implementations that prove out "no-touch" pathways.
- Identify systemic gaps in our production management platform and collaborate with platform teams to design new tooling.
