Director, Google Cloud Revenue

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of business experience including 10 years of accounting experience in a similar role in the enterprise technology space.

Preferred qualifications:

  • CPA or CFA.
  • Experience building, leading, and developing successful accounting teams.
  • Experience planning, managing, and delivering results at the strategic and operational level in a fast-paced environment that is constantly evolving.
  • Understanding of US GAAP accounting principles with knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition in the enterprise space, particularly consumption-based revenue models.
  • Understanding and experience with controlled and efficiently designed and managed business processes.

About the job

As Director of Google Cloud Revenue, you will have full responsibility for accounting and financial compliance of all Revenue activities throughout the global Cloud business, which is an externally reported segment of Alphabet. Managing a unique team of Googlers plus other extended workforce operations. You will ensure compliance with all revenue related accounting, sales, governance, and regulatory standards through the implementation and management of business controls and processes, and internal controls over financial reporting including SOX requirements. You will also work as an influential business partner to improve Google Cloud’s Order to Cash (O2C) process design, controls, and financial systems globally.

In this role, you will manage the end-to-end operational, financial, and systemic environment and key upstream and downstream processes that drive Revenue and customer impacts. You will develop and drive strategy to support revenue recognition, business changes, and actively plan and mobilize teams towards more complete automation of the revenue we recognize. You will drive change and adoption of strategy. You will develop, maintain, and enforce Google Cloud's revenue recognition policy under ASC 606, developing positions and interpretations as needed, staying closely connected to current business and offering strategies as well as industry trends. You will provide critical leadership in the design, implementation, maintenance, and oversight of Cloud’s internal controls over financial reporting in compliance with SOX standards.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $253,000-$356,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Understand and manage Google Cloud’s revenue recognition accounting, sales compliance, and system requirements in support of an accurate and efficient Google Cloud Contract to Revenue Recognition process, lifecycle, and tools. Understand enterprise business product structures, Opportunity/Lead to cash workflows, SOX/internal controls, and quality assurance frameworks.
  • Lead with knowledge of process/systems requirements, capabilities, assessment criteria, and the ability to translate that knowledge into decision-making skills, communication protocols, and project planning and management. Build and lead the growth toward maturity and to scale these capabilities.
