  • 9 years of experience in system design and network architecture.
  • 7 years of experience at a streaming service or in broadcast media digital distribution.
  • Experience with video encoding and content metadata.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or Applied Science, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience in technical troubleshooting, and managing external partners or cross-functional stakeholders.
  • 10 years of experience in operations management (i.e. process improvement, operational reviews, optimizing workflows, etc.).
  • 10 years of experience managing projects and working with analytics, software coding, or customer-side web technologies.
  • 10 years of experience with data analysis and SQL/MySQL.

The TV and Media Solutions team accelerates YouTube’s TV and Originals businesses with stellar technology solutions, operations, and partner support, making data exchange seamless and scaling critical business processes. Our team of Partner Technology Managers, Partner Engineers, Solutions Consultants, and Program Managers manage operations and partner support for YouTubeTV and YouTube Premium.

As a Video Content Acquisition Lead, you will focus on building the next iteration of YouTube Over-The-Top (OTT) ingestion infrastructure, partnering with Engineering teams to build scalable intelligent software on top of the YouTube ingestion and delivery network. You will manage vendor engagements, partner with content providers, and work cross-functionally across YouTube with various technical and business teams.

You are required to have experience in streaming media, live linear or live event broadcast engineering, and prior experience leading technical operations or integrations in the streaming or broadcast space. You will also need to have experience in system integration, vendor management, broadcast infrastructure build outs, video processing, compliance and Quality Control (QC), streaming protocols and media delivery systems.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $171,000-$257,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design and architect high-performance video streaming content ingestion systems, ensuring system resiliency, quality, and scalability. Partner with Engineering teams and content partners to devise and implement acquisition and processing strategies.
  • Modernize and transform legacy broadcast systems with advanced software and cloud-based solutions. 
  • Focus on optimizing quality, reliability, and performance of video transport protocols and ingestion methods.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, contributing to both technical platform development and strategic planning. Contribute to industry standards for broadcast and streaming (Streaming Video Technology Alliance (SVTA), The Society of Cable Television Engineers (SCTE) and Content Ads (CTA)).
  • Work with the Content Ingestion Automation Lead role, fostering cross-training and collaboration to enhance both roles capabilities.
