About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You will work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Our goal is to build a Google that looks like the world around us — and we want Googlers to stay and grow when they join us. As part of our efforts to build a Google for everyone, we build diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company.

In this role, you will lead multi-disciplinary engineering projects using engineering knowledge, plan requirements with internal customers, and support projects through the entire project life-cycle. You will use judgment to adjust programs effectively while navigating changing circumstances. You will lead, organize, and manage program activities that drive business outcomes while developing systems to proactively identify improvements and drive future optimizations including change management and performance metrics. You will manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes, and driving the technical directions of programs.

The Platforms and Ecosystems product area encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications). The products provide enterprises, and ultimately end users, the ability to utilize and manage their services at scale. We build innovative and compelling software products—from apps to TVs, from laptops to phones—that have an impact on people’s lives across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with team members and stakeholders to define project goals, prioritize deliverables, and ensure alignment on program objectives and impact. Demonstrate technical understanding and work with engineers and technology.
  • Develop project plans with phases, timelines, and risk assessments, while managing cross-functional dependencies and program constraints.
  • Address unforeseen issues, adjust programs as needed, and navigate changing circumstances to maintain progress towards goals. Identify improvements and processes, products, or services on an ongoing basis through measurement of performance, progress, and success metrics.
  • Communicate strategies for diverse audiences, including engineers and stakeholders, to ensure clear understanding and alignment.
  • Execute projects, manage budgets, resources, and team cadences, while continuously measuring performance and identifying areas for improvement.
