Engineering Analyst, YouTube Trust and Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 1 year of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • 2 years of experience in Data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, or related fields.
  • 1 year of experience with machine learning systems.
  • Experience with SQL, SQL Pipelines/ETL and spreadsheets, and with using data to drive strategy and business action.
  • Experience in content policy, anti-abuse, and reviewing online content, with identifying abuse trends.
  • Excellent investigative, written and verbal communication skills.

Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust & Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.

As an Engineering Analyst, you will be a key technical contributor to a global, cross-functional team dedicated to reducing harmful content on YouTube at scale. You will bridge the gap between high-level policy and technical enforcement by building the data infrastructure and automated tools necessary to prevent violative content on the platform.

This role requires a degree of technical agility, you will navigate the ambiguity of an evolving threat landscape including platform manipulation and adversarial generative AI to deliver modular, scalable solutions. You will work closely with Policy, Operations and Engineering to evaluate abuse trends and transform raw data to analyze patterns and turn them into modular solutions and executive-level insights, ensuring YouTube remains safe for a global audience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain robust SQL scripts and data pipelines to ensure high-quality data flow and accessibility.
  • Leverage LLMs using Python, internal APIs to build modular, scalable solutions that automate routine analysis or solve technical challenges.
  • Design and maintain dashboards that translate complex technical data into easily consumable, high-impact visual insights for leadership.
  • Analyze datasets to detect patterns, identify standard quality issues and vulnerabilities quickly.
  • Execute technical tasks within larger project frameworks while working with cross-functional teams, and help enforce existing policies and conduct technical investigations into existing problem areas.
