Product Manager, User Generated Content

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in product management or a related technical role, with a focus on user engagement and growth.
  • 1 year of experience taking technical products from conception to launch.
  • Experience delivering elements of the product development life cycle such as product goal, go-to-market strategy, delivering requirements, and product launch.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in product management with a proven track record of successfully launching and scaling consumer-facing products.
  • Experience with user research methodologies and data analysis.
  • Understanding of gamification principles and best practices.
  • Ability to work and deliver with cross-functional teams (Design, Engineering, Release, Adoption).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.

We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.

User-Generated Content (UGC) like Reviews, Videos and Photos are a key differentiator for Google Maps and Search. Maps UGC is critical for helping people decide where to go, and plays an important role in maintaining a fresh and accurate digital representation of the real world. The Contributor engages users to contribute while motivating them to grow into active members of the Maps UGC community.

As a Product Manager, you will help lead the evolution of our UGC motivation system. In this role, you will work with a team of cross-functional partners to reimagine how we incentivize and reward users for their contributions to Google Maps. You will focus on building lasting habits in our users, turning casual contributors into active and engaged members of the maps community.

The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with UX, Research and Engineering teams to design, launch, and land new features and experiences to motivate maps contributors.
  • Drive collaborations with teams across Geo to build alignment and define new features to foster active and engaged contributors on maps.
  • Define the roadmap, build consensus, and secure support from cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Communicate a defined product outlook in a way that captures attention influences others to drive action despite obstacles and engaging priorities.
