Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience shipping open source software.
  • Experience managing consumer hardware operations (e.g., tablets, phones, computers, etc).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle, with the ability to communicate technical topics and products.

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

The Platforms and Devices Fleet Operations Technical Program Manager plays a critical role in optimizing the delivery and operational efficiency of the hardware infrastructure. In this role, you will act as a central point of contact, bridging technical knowledge with operational execution to ensure seamless hardware capacity delivery.

As the Technical Program Manager, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including customer technical leads, executives, and partners to plan, manage, and execute infrastructure and operations projects.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work with customer technical leads, executives, and partners to manage and deliver infrastructure and operations projects.
  • Work with operations managers, lab and data center technicians, and fulfillment partner teams to improve processes, execute work planning and identify efficiencies in order to deliver hardware capacity.
  • Channel customers’ feedback to the delivery project management team to ensure positive in-production experience.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, responsible cost management, and time-saving initiatives.
  • Develop best practice recommendations based on experience gained during customer engagements.
