Firmware Engineer, Pixel Connectivity WiFi

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in coding with C/C++.
  • Experience in one or more than one of the following areas: Wi-Fi/Bluetooth driver, firmware, and framework development.
  • Experience developing embedded systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Android application software development.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux environments and the development of Linux device drivers.
  • Experience with embedded Linux driver SDIO or PCIe.
  • Experience with IEEE 802.11 protocol.
  • Excellent problem-solving, investigative, and troubleshooting skills.

The products need to manage information at a massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. You will work on projects critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and the business grows and evolves. You will work on the software stack for future android devices. You will also help architect, develop, test, and deploy complex embedded consumer devices.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Build high-quality Wi-Fi experience across the Pixel and Andorid ecosystem, ensuring they serve all the users equitably and inclusively.
  • Design, implement and support connectivity features for Pixel/Wearable devices.
  • Address a variety of System on Chip (SoC), and work with partners and vendors.
  • Investigate and address the root cause of firmware/software issues.
