About the job

As the Director of Engineering in Ads Safety, you will lead a dynamic team dedicated to enhancing the foundational technologies that support our content and actor safety initiatives, as well as ensuring our customers (advertisers and publishers) and consumers (users) have excellent policy-related experiences.

Your primary focus will be on developing and optimizing the underlying technical platforms, including machine learning systems and large-scale review processes that empower our safety teams to protect users, advertisers, and publishers across Google's broad and complex advertising ecosystem.

You will ensure that our ML models, AI technologies, and platform systems operate seamlessly and efficiently, enabling your partner content and actor safety teams to detect and mitigate risks effectively. You will drive innovation and scalability within these platforms to keep pace with evolving threats and maintain the integrity and trustworthiness of our advertising services.

Equally important is your responsibility for elevating customer and consumer experiences related to policy interactions. Working closely with UX and partners in Sales, and Trust and Safety, drive the implementation of exceptional experiences for advertisers and publishers when they navigate policy issues, such as dealing with ad disapprovals. For consumers, you will enhance the processes for reporting ads, ensuring they are intuitive, responsive, and user-friendly. Your efforts will directly impact user satisfaction and trust in Google's services.

You will inspire a high-performing team dedicated to innovation, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of a secure and trustworthy advertising environment for users, advertisers, and publishers worldwide.

Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $278,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive the overarching strategy and roadmap for Ads Safety Platforms and Experiences. Align this vision with Google's commitment to creating a secure and trustworthy online environment for users, advertisers, and publishers worldwide.
  • Lead the design, development, and enhancement of the underlying technical platforms - including machine learning systems, large-scale processing systems, and human review tooling – that empower the broader Ads Safety Ecosystem. Ensure these platforms are reliable, scalable, and efficient to meet the ever-growing demands of a global advertising ecosystem.
  • Ensure that all platforms and systems are designed for high scalability and reliability to handle the vast scale of Google's advertising services without compromising performance or uptime.
