About the job

The Business Strategy & Operations organization provides business critical insights using analytics, ensures cross functional alignment of goals and execution, and helps teams drive strategic partnerships and new initiatives forward. We stay focused on aligning the highest-level company priorities with effective day-to-day operations, and help evolve early stage ideas into future-growth initiatives.

The Deal Pricing and Monetization (DPM) team is instrumental in shaping and executing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) strategy to win large, complex deals for Google Cloud – at the right price and at scale. DPM is responsible for structuring large and complex deals and GTM constructs that meet customer needs, while driving GCP’s revenue and profitability, and ensuring risk mitigation and operational feasibility.

As a Strategic Business Operations Principal, you will lead executive initiatives to evolve commercial models and bridge the gap between strategy and execution. You will architect high-impact, non-standard deals to drive business transformation, collaborating cross-functionally (Sales, Product, Finance) to resolve friction points and ensure sound deal economics and competitive differentiation. You will build scalable frameworks and modernize complex-deal processes to accelerate velocity and operational efficiency. Blending deal-making intuition with DPM expertise, you will drive the end-to-end lifecycle of strategic programs, partnering with global stakeholders to enhance GTM strategies, business policies, and risk controls.

This role is highly visible and requires working on ambiguous problems in a fast-paced environment that provides a 360-degree view of the GCP business, all with opportunities to learn and grow. This unique role offers a dual-impact responsibility and opportunity to shape the commercial future of Google Cloud.

Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology, and tools that help developers build more sustainably. Customers in more than 200 countries and territories turn to Google Cloud as their trusted partner to enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.

Responsibilities

  • Apply cloud/industry expertise, GCP knowledge (across strategy, product, operations, financials) to develop strategies and address constructs that help us address customers’ unique requirements and win agreement at the right price and at scale.
  • Apply core 'first principles' problem solving skills to address, prioritize, and structure issues, whether deal-specific or broader GCP business issues.
  • Drive and collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Business Planning, Product, Deal Strategy, Systems) to shape complex monetization programs and their inherent challenges (e.g., new business models, refine GTM/sales strategy, policies, sales plays, field enablement, etc.).
  • Take initiative and show entrepreneurship to help drive initiatives to improve DPM’s value dimensions at scale (e.g., revenue, profitability, velocity, risk mitigation, operational simplification, etc.).
  • Drive operational excellence by diagnosing process inefficiencies and lead system integration projects to modernize and drive process optimizations.
