Developer Relations Engineer, System UI

Passionate people are everywhere at Google. In Developer Relations, we get excited to collaborate and connect with the communities that love technology as much as we do. Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Relations Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. You write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5 as well as our core Google Apps and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

You provide technical expertise to third party organizations to ensure their success and help them develop their applications using Google technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering direction and assistance to design, build, launch, and improve developer products.
  • Become an expert in System UI (SysUI) APIs and tools, and identify opportunities for Google and developers to create better products for users.
  • Work with the Jetpack Compose team to ensure that the SysUI APIs align with Jetpack Compose best practices.
  • Collaborate with Android System UI and Developer Experience product and engineering teams to deliver the developer narrative to Android Developers.
  • Work with external developers, generate developer insights, create guidance, write example code, author blog posts, design APIs, propose product changes, influence engineering plans, discover developer stories, and inspire developers.
