Technical Program Manager, AI Innovation and Research, On-Device Intelligence

Minimum qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in AI and machine learning concepts, and those related to on-device and hybrid computing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience working with engineering, product management, research, and design teams to drive projects from conception to launch.
  • Experience in project management methodologies, with the ability to manage cross-functional projects.
  • Knowledge of mobile or embedded systems, edge computing, and AI model optimization for on-device performance.
  • Ability to interpret technical data, performance metrics, and results to make informed project decisions.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will help shape the future of human-computer interaction by contributing to advancements in Gemini, play a critical role in bridging the gap between powerful AI capabilities and intuitive user experiences, and work in automation enabling control of applications. You will also manage the challenges of hybrid computing, drive innovation in generative UX by creating dynamic interfaces that respond intelligently to user needs, contribute to ambient computing initiatives by leveraging always-on sensing and on-device models to create personalized user interactions, as well as help advance core Gemini Nano technology.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage multiple AI-driven projects focused on on-device solutions across products, ensuring timely delivery and cross-functional alignment, and collaborate with engineering, product, and research teams to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Track progress of AI model development and optimization for on-device applications, ensuring teams meet key milestones and deadlines.
  • Support communication between teams across different locations and timezone, and ensure an understanding of priorities and challenges.
  • Identify and manage potential risks or roadblocks, and provide solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Drive the execution of technical roadmaps, aligning projects with the broader AI strategy, and ensure compliance with privacy and security standards for on-device AI technologies.
