Test Infrastructure Development Software Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in an object oriented language (e.g., Python, Java, or Golang).
  • 2 years of experience specifying, deploying and configuring servers and network switches.
  • 2 years of experience working in manufacturing software environments such as Test Engineering or Manufacturing Execution Systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

Google's custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

In this role, you will develop and maintain Python code in a test executive that supports New Product Introduction. You will execute to a software development lifecycle that includes customer intake, writing specifications, doing code reviews and releasing software. You will participate in Agile sprints and adhere to the coding practices. You will also need to communicate with Google's contract manufacturers' IT teams about how to integrate solutions into their networks.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Identify hardware platforms and solutions on which to run the software.
  • Deploy solutions to partner sites, interacting with IT teams to deploy solutions.
  • Drive process design, optimization, and qualification activities of a manufacturing process for a component, part, or product.
  • Interact with stakeholders to understand the requirements. Turn feature requests into complete designs using design principles.
  • Develop and maintain software features in Python in a Linux environment.
