Technical Program Manager, EHS Design Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in building and industrial design safety standards (e.g. ANSI, ISO, NFPA, OSHA, Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), ATEX EU Directive.).
  • Experience in data center or other mission critical environment safety engineering.
  • Experience with performing risk assessments in a data center or other mission critical environment.
  • Experience with industrial design and engineering.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in related field (ie. Engineering, Process Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene).
  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in collaboration and relationship-building with cross-functional teams and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Data Center operations, facilities management, engineering and construction.
  • Ability to identify key issues, gather and analyze large complex data sets to support hypotheses and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent investigative, problem-solving, project management, written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you will provide leadership and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) direction in the safe design of new infrastructure products and data center building designs. You will aim to mitigate risk downstream to the employees, partners, and the environment across the data center lifecycle. You will engage with all levels of employees and leadership to continuously improve existing design for safety standards and processes. You will work with key stakeholders in engineering, project management, construction, operations and EHS as well as external partners to continuously evaluate program risks, opportunities, and develop work plans to execute on agreed objectives.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$198,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) and lead detailed lifecycle risk assessments for new infrastructure and data center designs.
  • Lead collaborative efforts to mitigate EHS risks, ensure regulatory compliance and the timely delivery of design for safety deliverables.
  • Onboard teams on EHS Technical Standards while continually enhancing these processes through industry best practices and lessons learned.
  • Partner with stakeholders to explore and integrate innovative technologies that improve safety through advanced engineering and design.
  • Travel up to 15% as needed.
