Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of software development experience in embedded systems development.
- 5 years of experience programming in C++.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience in image processing pipelines design and implementation.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Experience in XR (AR/VR), mobile, or wearables ecosystems.

We work closely with our perception partners to ensure their platform and framework needs are met. We also work closely with hardware vendor partners to bring their vendor implementations into the Android XR platform. We have deep camera software expertise on the team all the way from the firmware level (MIPI-CSI, I2C, I3C, EEPROM, etc) through the Android Camera HAL and up to the Android Camera2 layer.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
$207000 - $301000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits

Responsibilities
- Contribute to technical roadmaps, define project scope and clarify requirements for Embedded Camera Software that align with Hardware schedules, product management direction and partner engineering teams.
- Design, guide and vet systems designs across the XR Camera Systems stack.
- Write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems ensuring production-quality code satisfying strict performance requirements on compute-constrained devices running perception pipelines at high frame rate and bandwidth.
- Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
- Evaluate vendor-provided reference code and bring up newly developed XR hardware under strict timelines and time constraints while working closely with downstream partners across the XR organization.
