Language Manager (Bahasa Indonesia)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience as a Bahasa Indonesian translator,
    linguist, copywriter, writer, or editor.
  • Ability to communicate in Bahasa Indonesia and English fluently to fulfill core aspects of the role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree.
  • Experience in program management.
  • Experience in partner/stakeholder management while working with cross-functional teams and across time zones.
  • Experience with video, creative, localization, journalism, public communications, or the online marketing/advertising industry.
  • Ability to relate to ambiguity, work independently, and chart the direction of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a good understanding of market expectations for localization quality and how Google's products fit in the market, and create language strategy to enable native language experience to users.
  • Become a critical partner for the Indonesia-focused teams with stakeholders in Marketing, Product, and Communications to enable native language experiences for Google’s products for Indonesian users.
  • Engage regularly with local stakeholders to understand their priorities, and share updates on language strategy and global localization services.
  • Ensure Google's translation and review vendors deliver high quality translations that align with Google’s language standards. Assess vendor metrics to identify issues/trends, and use metrics to drive improvements with local vendors.
  • Create and meaningfully evolve Indonesian language guidelines (e.g., Style Guide, Terminology) and Indonesian language strategy for Google, taking into account input from users, stakeholders, and tech language industry trends.
