Senior Software Engineer, ML, AI Innovation and Research

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience with Machine Learning/Artificial intelligence (ML/AI) algorithms and tools or natural language processing.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining or launching software products.
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science, in the field of AI/ML.
  • Experience in machine learning, deep learning, and AI development, along with a experience in building and deploying production-level models.
  • Experience working in a research setting, collaborating with researchers and translating research findings into practical applications.
  • Experience in leading complex technical projects, from conception to deployment.
  • Ability to work with the teams, including product managers, researchers, and other stakeholders, to drive AI adoption and integration.

About the job

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on ML, Gemini Nano, and collaborate with Google Research, Google DeepMind, and On-Device Intelligence (ODI) teams worldwide. With your technical expertise you will research on open ended problems, design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance AI/ML software solutions. You will also manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Research on open ended problems, build and ship technology to enable OS-level Agentic Experiences with an emphasis on on-device (Gemini Nano).
  • Collaborate with researchers and translate research findings into practical applications for on-device.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
