Cloud Engineer, Application Modernization, Professional Services, Google Cloud (English, Spanish)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience leading enterprise application portfolios and associated technologies (e.g., VMWare, Openshift, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Experience coding in one or more general purpose languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C or C++) including data structures, algorithms, and software design.
  • Experience designing cloud enterprise solutions and supporting customer projects to completion.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish fluently, to interact with local stakeholders in this customer-facing role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience architecting, developing software, or internet scale production-grade cloud solutions in virtualized environments such as Google Cloud Platform or other public clouds.
  • Experience refactoring monolithic applications to microservices, APIs, or serverless models.
  • Experience leading application modernization or application architecture projects.
  • Experience with unit or automated testing tools.

As a Cloud Engineer, you will work with customers to transform existing enterprise applications into modern, cloud native applications to reduce time to launch, increase release frequency, reduce time to recovery and failure rate. You will propose and execute code development, approaches to modernize Google’s customer’s applications and deploy them to Google Cloud Platform. You will work with customers on application re-design and implementation, including application scaling and reliability. You will also advise on ongoing operations such as application and feature rollouts, monitoring, and more. Additionally, you will work closely with product management and product engineering to build and drive excellence in our products.

In this role, you will support customer adoption of Google Cloud products through architecture guidance, best practices, application migration, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and much more.

Responsibilities

  • Be a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex software development issues.
  • Deliver modern software to Google’s customers, including creating and executing enterprise application transformation and migration strategies.
  • Recommend approaches and estimated effort for application migration and modernization programs.
  • Create and deliver best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, and sample code.
  • Travel up to 30% of the time in the region for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities as needed.
