Director, Cloud Privacy Operations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Privacy, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Policy or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in Privacy.
  • 5 years of experience in privacy by design, including the development and launching of products in the consumer or enterprise (B2B) contexts.
  • Experience with privacy regulatory frameworks such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree.
  • Exceptional project and program management skills and driven towards innovative solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, communication and organizational skills.
  • Collaborates effectively across organizational boundaries, builds relationships, and imports and exports talent and ideas to achieve a broader organizational goal.
  • Understands the relationship between the organization and its environment, identifies connections, adopts different perspectives and quickly responds to changing circumstances in a strategic way.

The Google Cloud Privacy Team is looking for a Director of Cloud Privacy Operations to lead our Cloud-wide Privacy Working Group, which is a collective of privacy personnel that review and approve privacy-impacting Google Cloud product launches, answer product questions, and offer advice on privacy and data protection requirements for their respective product area.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $246,000-$354,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Support direct engagement with data protection authorities and their representatives and key opinion formers (KOFs) to influence key critical privacy regulatory compliance matters.
  • Partner closely with legal and public policy teams to ensure alignment with Google Cloud engineering and product priorities.
  • Leverage your established relationships with privacy regulators and KOFs to drive privacy compliance strategies.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Legal, Government Affairs, Communications and other teams to align and communicate our capabilities and to ensure accuracy, scalability, and consistency in our engagement with privacy regulators and KOFs.
  • Plan OKR's (objective/key results). Translate broad privacy regulatory strategies into clear, specific objectives and key results.
