Technical Accountant, Revenue and Lease Accounting

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Chartered Accountant (CA), or equivalent.
  • 10 years of experience in accounting at both public accounting firms and publicly-traded multinational companies, or 8 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience working in technical accounting, accounting policies, accounting advisory, or a similar role.
  • Experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606) and lessor/lessee accounting (ASC 842).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a technical accounting or similar role at the SEC or FASB.
  • Experience in Cloud computing and SaaS.
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting principles, with subject matter expertise in ASC 606 and ASC 842.
  • Ability to work with senior management and influence decision making.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.

About the job

As a member of Alphabet's Technical Accounting team, you will be navigating the accounting for complex accounting arrangements, with a focus on revenue recognition and leases (as a lessor) including the interplay of these accounting standards.

You will partner and collaborate with business partners to understand the offering and the deal construct. You will provide a point of view on revenue and lease accounting and drive impact by being able to think on your feet to discuss alternative structures.

You thrive on solving accounting problems and embark on each day with an eye toward overcoming a challenge. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $153,000-$227,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical consultant to business partners under US GAAP.
  • Perform technical accounting research on accounting issues primarily related to revenue recognition and leases.
  • Review documentation of accounting analyses.
  • Communicate arrangements including the accounting assessment to leadership and colleagues.
