Senior Sourcing Manager, Custom Silicon

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience managing System-on-Chip (SoC) products or advanced semiconductor manufacturing and supply chains.
  • Experience managing semiconductor suppliers (foundry, OSAT, and ASIC houses) for leading-edge CMOS process technology and advanced SoC packaging.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience of working with testing tooling suppliers and testing equipment vendors.
  • Experience with semiconductor development cycles, silicon bring-up methodology and production ramp.
  • Experience presenting and communicating to an executive audience.
  • Experiences of working with teams of various technical backgrounds, and leading cross-functional deliverables with the ability to connect, network, and collaborate with others in a large product organization.
  • Knowledge of the customer-owned tooling model and chip cost model.
  • Excellent people management, communication, negotiation skills.

About the job

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.

The Custom Silicon Sourcing team plays a crucial role in the development of Pixel products. We are responsible for sourcing custom chips and managing relationships with foundries, OSATs, and ASIC vendors. Our goal is to ensure the successful and timely delivery of committed SoC and chip components.

In this role, you will work to secure strategic components and enable the right supply base across various components for Google’s hardware products. You will apply financial analysis and market knowledge, along with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, to develop partnerships and establish policies, and negotiate agreements that provide the framework for Google’s product components. You will ensure Google receives contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most efficient solutions for business needs, and take leads on special projects, and manage third-party relationships and provide recommendations to Google leadership.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$258,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage foundry, assembly/packaging, and testing suppliers to secure engineering support, production capacity, and engaged cost.
  • Drive silicon supplier relationship, contractual engagement, and deliverables.
  • Develop and drive supply chain strategies to enhance supply chain performance and resilience.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to drive cost effective and high-quality solutions that support business goals.
  • Lead and participate on large projects, and understand and resolve complex issues.
