About the job

Fast-paced, dynamic, and proactive, YouTube’s Trust and Safety team is dedicated to making YouTube a safe place for users, viewers, and content creators around the world to create, and express themselves. Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust and Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.

The Scaled Abuse Escalations team oversees and manages escalations in parallel with the Rapid Response team. As a manager on the team, you will be responsible for ensuring that adversarial abuse policies are enforced, including from the point of identification of possible violation, to coordination with cross-functional executives, to removal and appeals. You will work with cross-functional teams to provide YouTube's response to emerging escalations and events. You will review graphic, controversial, and sometimes offensive video content in line with YouTube's Community Guidelines. In this role, you will work on-call at weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.

At YouTube, we believe that everyone deserves to have a voice, and that the world is a better place when we listen, share, and build community through our stories. We work together to give everyone the power to share their story, explore what they love, and connect with one another in the process. Working at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and boundless creativity, we move at the speed of culture with a shared goal to show people the world. We explore new ideas, solve real problems, and have fun — and we do it all together.

Responsibilities

  • Manage APAC and EMEA escalation team members, prioritizing escalations and making resource allocation decisions with partner teams.
  • Develop knowledge of Scaled Abuse policies to ensure holistic reviews of escalations and provide leadership oversight on sensitive escalations.
  • Liaise with other operations/policy enforcement, policy development, product, and engineering teams to craft and implement process solutions to emerging threats.
  • Manage high-priority escalations and Trust and Safety (T&S's) preparedness for major commercial events. This involves reviewing graphic and controversial video content to ensure it aligns with YouTube's guidelines, with a focus on adversarial abuse.
  • Own and shape relationships with cross-functional teams on a variety of projects, from tool development to data analysis, and communicate these initiatives to executive management.
