Strategy Manager, Play and Developer, Regulatory Strategy

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in management consulting, product management and strategy, or analytics in a technology company.
  • 4 years of experience developing quantitative analyses to inform planned business decisions.
  • 3 years of experience working with and analyzing data, and managing multiple projects.
  • 2 years of experience in the mobile technology space

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent professional experience in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics or Mathematics), Business/Economics, or Operations Research.
  • Experience working inside of, or directly across from regulators.
  • Experience with app stores or application development for mobile phones.
  • Experience discussing business and regulatory issues in a cross-functional team.
  • Understanding of one or more regulatory domains related to mobile technology (e.g., competition, privacy, artificial intelligence or sustainability) in one or more geographic areas (e.g., European Union and UK, the Americas, APAC).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with executive product and business leaders and executives.

Product and Business Strategy Leaders bring together teams across Google’s functions to help products execute optimally. Our team pushes Google to scale at key points that refine our products and infrastructure by executing efficiently, bringing solid business sense and sound judgment, and working effectively across organizational lines.

Our roles often include components of strategy (e.g. analyzing and understanding new trends in the industry, building business plans), operations (e.g. running the cadence of organizations, connecting the operating lines between our functions), and communications. Our team partners with senior leadership to run important functions that cross-cut our existing organizations and deliver high impact projects. We help Engineers, PMs, UX, and all of our other functions to build amazing products that delight our users, and then get those products into their hands.

The Android and Play Strategy team develops strategies that assure Android and Play platforms grow in a dynamic world with evolving regulatory systems.

In this role, you will be working on high profile initiatives and helping leadership answer the regulatory strategy questions defining how Play and our ecosystems evolve. You will use your tactical and operational acumen to develop product and business plans for Play and our developer community that help to navigate existing and emerging regulatory frameworks (e.g.,competition, privacy, artificial intelligence and sustainability). You will take ownership and support key projects that set business directions for users and platforms in the context of evolving regulatory landscapes.


The US base salary range for this full-time position is $139,000-$207,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead key projects and develop internal consensus among executive level stakeholders from different product and cross-functional teams.
  • Develop informative metrics and leverage them to quantify the impact of critical executive decisions related to regulatory strategies.
  • Illuminate the impact of proposed strategies on user experience, value drivers (e.g.,safety and security), financial performance, resource commitments, and Google’s priorities.
  • Work with our policy and legal teams to assess the business impact of regulatory changes on our ecosystems for one or more geographic regions (e.g., the European Union and UK, the Americas, or APAC).
  • Develop internal resources to help the business make informed decisions about how to navigate key regulatory requirements and provide comparative assessments.
