Head of Education, Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in technology sales or working in a customer relationship management role in the public sector space.
  • Experience with cloud services, mobile devices, browsers and OS platforms.
  • Experience in executing territory and strategy making.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to build and execute on strategic plans over multiple quarters.
  • Excellent problem-solving and strategic skills, with the ability to grow in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Understanding of Google for Education's tools.
  • Project management experience, including planning, execution and risk management. Track record of effectively delivering large-scale and/or multiple projects at one time in fast-moving environments.

About the job

As the Head of Education for Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), you'll be responsible for developing trusted relationships with Ministries of Education and external stakeholders such as UNICEF, World Bank and GPE, developing a healthy distribution network and an ecosystem of Professional Development partners, Google Certified Educators and Google Educator Groups (GEGs) among others. Positioning Google for Education for long-term, sustainable growth in the Region and capturing early stage business opportunities where appropriate. You will build awareness of Google's product offering through engagement at all levels, from national to local educators, public and private schools. You'll also work closely to support, develop and onboard Sub-Saharan Africa partners to achieve our go to market goals. Additionally, you will also work with many internal teams such as the Sales Engineering, Product, Marketing and Public Policy teams to align on long term strategy and short term execution. You'll be responsible to coordinate with all the relevant teams to launch or make available our solutions locally when needed, to support localization if not available and to create business cases to gather more support in order to grow.

You're a self-driven and motivated go to market lead for the Sub-Saharan Africa region, with an initial focus on South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana. Working across SSA you will be responsible for expanding the presence of Google for Education across the region, driving adoption and usage of Google for Education’s solutions such as Google Workspace for Education and Chromebooks, and being the presence of the Education team publicly.

Google for Education is on the front line of helping the education sector transform learning and teaching at scale. As a member of the team you’ll help us advocate Google solutions like Workspace for Education to educational institutions, individually and at scale, helping them make learning more equitable, collaborative, and personalized.

Responsibilities

  • Expand the presence of Google for Education across the region, driving adoption and usage of Google for Education solutions such as Google Workspace for Education and Chromebooks, and being the presence of the Education team publicly.
  • Manage and grow our promoter channel, engage with regional and separate business opportunities, and have active usage goals in the region.
  • Build awareness of Google's product offering in the education space in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) through engagement at all levels, from national to local educators.
  • Work with the in-country Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team and Google Cloud teams to develop relationships and case studies for the SSA region.
  • Work closely to support, develop, and potentially onboard our SSA partners.
