Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in C++, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  • Experience in designing, building, and maintaining distributed systems or backend infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience in building, deploying, and monitoring production services.
  • Knowledge of the full software development life-cycle, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Knowledge on AI platforms, ML algorithms, LLMs, and generative AI.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a changing, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to focus on reliability, scalability, and system performance.

The mission of the Advanced User Understanding Infrastructure team (within Google Search Discover) is to develop next-generation infrastructures that leverage advanced and novel Machine Learning (ML) technologies, enabling an understanding of users to deliver optimal personalization recommendations for Search Discover products. We are dedicated to engineering reliable, efficient, and extensible systems, to support and scale technologies, empowering teams to rapidly iterate and deploy advanced ML personalization solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain highly scalable, reliable, and extensible infrastructure that powers our next-generation personalization engine.
  • Build and optimize data processing and ML models inferencing pipelines, enabling research and application teams to rapidly iterate, experiment, and deploy new solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with Research Scientists, ML Engineers, and Product Managers to define requirements, bridge the gap between research and scalable production systems.
  • Monitor, debug, and optimize the performance, latency, and resource efficiency of our large-scale distributed services.
