The TV team brings the best of Google to living rooms with Android TV OS and Google's unique TV experience. We are on a mission to organize the world's media and build the world's most loved and helpful TV platform. The TV Systems software engineering team is a key part of the Google TV success story. The TV Systems team works closely with Google teams to build and release the next generation Android TV operating system and also works closely SoC and OEM partners to build high quality Android TV/Google TV devices.

In this role, with your technical expertise you will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions for TV devices.Google TV is redefining the TV experience to make it highly personalized, Google-smart, and content-forward to help users access the world’s media. Through recent launches like Chromecast with Google TV, we bring together the best of Google. Google TV is focused on scaling across the OEM ecosystem; working closely with third-party streaming partners plus many teams across Google (for example: Ads, Play, and YouTube); and building a business on TV platforms, OTT devices, and mobile devices. With over 110 million active users of our products plus being amidst the quickly evolving media and entertainment industry, there are plenty of opportunities for the team and individuals in it.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Innovate, design, implement, and test new software features for TV embedded systems (e.g., streaming sticks, panel TVs, set top boxes) and related products (e.g., remote controls, speakers, soundbars).
  • Build high quality Android TV OS reference designs that provide the foundational hardware and software for TV OEMs to launch devices with quality at scale.
  • Bring up new prototype hardware systems. Work with unreleased TV devices to bring a high performance Google TV experience to users.
  • Be an expert in technologies that our SoC vendors contribute to the TV OS platform particularly in the areas of kernel, bootloader, TEE, HAL implementations, and Android framework.
  • Advise and influence TV partners and vendors on solutions that benefit the TV ecosystem. Perform implementation reviews, advocate new product features, and ensure the prompt and proper resolution of technical challenges.
