Strategic Partner Development Manager, YouTube Music Publishing

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking.
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management.
  • Experience managing agreements or partnerships.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in music publishing or licensing music publishing rights for digital music, broadcast or internet businesses.
  • 5 years of experience managing operational workflows in digital music or media societies or publisher/songwriter relationships.
  • Experience with spreadsheet software analysis, data management and YouTube’s Content Management System.
  • Understanding of key publishing issues, and trends in rights management, including sync rights, performance licenses (and withdrawals), collection societies and publisher/label relationships.
  • Excellent fluency with, or willingness to learn, technological concepts, financial models and product features.

About the job

In this role, you will build long-lasting relationships with key partners and songwriters to help them take full advantage of Google's offerings. As part of the Music Publishing Business Development team, you will work cross-functionally with internal teams (including Label and Artist Relations, Marketing, Operations, Field Partner Engineers, Legal, and Finance). Additionally, you will cultivate existing relationships and build new partnerships to represent our users, products, and programs.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $113,000-$161,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Work across Product, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Legal to implement content licenses for our publishing partners as well as ensure a programmatic offering for songwriters. 
  • Manage day-to-day operations and platform management with music publishing partners, field and prioritize incoming requests, troubleshoot partner issues around reporting, content management, and Content ID, and create periodic reports (external and internal) on performance.
  • Develop a knowledge of Google and YouTube technology, particularly surrounding rights management and reporting.
  • Translate technical systems for our partners and manage day-to-day operations across key songwriter partners, including supporting YouTube channel building and management.
  • Provide event management and support for our key events (e.g., writing camps and other similar programs).
