Minimum qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in a clinical field (e.g., MD, DO, DNP, PsyD, PharmD, PhD) or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of clinical experience after the completion of a doctoral degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience translating behavioral science, ecological systems theory, or community engagement methodologies into health technology development and deployment.
- 3 years of experience with digital health product development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Demonstrated track record of taking a digital health product from concept to consumer use.
- 3 years of experience at a digital health company, payer, in health system operations, or in a healthcare information technology company.
- 1 year evaluating health AI solutions for safety, accuracy, robustness, and generalizability, with peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience in complex environments with cross-functional product development teams, partners, and external audiences.
- Clinical expertise focused in an outpatient setting.
- Clinical expertise in low-resource settings (e.g., LMICs, rural health) or regions such as Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, Middle East and North Africa, Latin America, Caribbean.
About the job
As a Clinical Specialist for Health Optimization, you will be an influential contributor to our work, embedding human context into the early stages of AI development to support research programs and products. With a data-driven, proactive approach, develop intelligent and intuitive tools that help improve health journeys for users and achieve meaningful health impact on a global scale.
You will use your clinical expertise, behavior science skills, knowledge of the research-to-product life-cycle, and strong communication and leadership skills to shape the content, design and execution of products. You will be working cross-functionally with non-clinical teams (engineering, product management, UX/UXR, legal, and regulatory affairs). You will have a demonstrable background as a professional with recognized expertise in a clinical field. In addition to your clinical background, you will have experience with AI health product development, and you may have experience in consumer health informatics and digital health evaluation.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $146,000-$214,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Use clinical expertise to provide guidance, insights and direction on consumer-facing products and features for Google’s health-focused products, working closely with product teams.
- Understand the complex health and healthcare environment and ecosystem globally, including socio-ecological factors around the world, and translate this understanding into user-focused product requirements.
- Develop and apply methodologies for evaluating AI model performance across various populations, combining machine learning, social science, behavior science, and public health principles to build scaled approaches to health AI.
