Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 3 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects.
- 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
- Experience with security protocols and data privacy best practices.
- Experience in building network intelligence and BL models at scale.
- Familiarity with messaging platforms, anti-abuse systems, or identity/verification technologies.

RCS Messaging is the second largest messaging platform in the world with over two billion active users. We are dedicated to stopping bad actors and abuse from happening on the RCS platform before they cause harm. With our expertise in global-scale threat intelligence and modeling threats & behaviors, we keep our users safe from increasingly sophisticated spam and harm. We work with many teams across Google as well as with external partners and worldwide telco carriers to make this happen.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow our fantastic team of dedicated software and ML engineers. Foster a collaborative environment built on psychological safety, empowering your team members through clear goals, continuous feedback, and dedicated career development.
- Oversee planning, design, execution and delivery over user reputation, carrier intelligence, anti-malware, provisioning, and more.
- Partner closely with your Tech Leads to guide the overall technical vision, architecture, and roadmap. Be responsible for technically steering your team and influencing the technical direction, this could include writing design documents, suggesting projects, code reviews, and design reviews for individuals on the team.
- Drive the execution of large-scale, multi-quarter projects, ensuring your team delivers high-quality, scalable solutions on time.
