About the job
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
Our goal is to build a Google that looks like the world around us — and we want Googlers to stay and grow when they join us. As part of our efforts to build a Google for everyone, we build diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company.
Pixel Watch and Fitbit devices bring the best of Google hardware, AI and first-party software apps and experiences together to millions of users. Our team works with the major software subsystems such as core bring-up, system health, performance, thermal, power, graphics, display, sensors, etc. We work with the Product team to define requirements and success criteria, with the Hardware teams to bring up new components and devices, and are key to shipping our products with high quality.
Responsibilities
- Manage complex and large-scale software projects, work with multiple teams on cross-functional initiatives, and interface with Engineering Managers and Engineers across both hardware and software to estimate work efforts, define milestones, and manage resources. Track progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks and communicate status to upper management and project stakeholders.
- Remove obstacles proactively to drive momentum and progress. Identify communication gaps, manage issue escalations, and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities.
- Understand technical implementation at the system/architecture level and propose technical alternatives when necessary. Develop broad domain and technical knowledge.
- Work closely with our leads and partners to ensure software and roadmap feature alignment for current and future programs.
- Identify process gaps/issues in our development and create solutions to scale execution efficiency.
