Technical Program Manager, Data Communications Network

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience in network operations and data communications.
  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • 5 years of experience with network multilayered OSS, network design, and network security.
  • Experience with developing software in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) environment.
  • Experience with data communications protocols and data network design, open network protocols, models and strategies.
  • Familiarity with enterprise networking (e.g., L3 Routing, Switching (CISCO) SD WAN and Security).

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Review, design, implement and operationally manage Global Submarine Networks (GSN's) Layer 2-3 IP Secure Data Communications Network (DCN) and Operational Support Systems (OSS) and Cloud based applications and systems.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, supporting GSN's Network Operations center (NOC) to develop systems operating processes.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network and OSS systems performance.
  • Manage and track Quality of Service (QoS) issues and resolutions.
  • Work with technology suppliers, security, risk and compliance teams to ensure Google maintains the highest levels of reliability in respect of operating systems and networks.
