Development Manager, Infrastructure, Data and Support

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience as an Individual Contributor (IC) or a Lead in software development, including experience with web technologies and back-end systems.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience with one or more programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C++ and SQL).
  • Experience with software development best practices, including unit testing, code reviews, version control, and CI/CD systems.
  • Experience with software engineering principles, design patterns, and system architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with full-stack development and with large-scale data processing, distributed systems, ETL pipelines, and Big Data technologies.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud computing platforms.
  • Experience working closely with product teams, conducting business analysis, and translating requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience managing or leading Software Engineering teams and in multiple programming languages relevant to web solutions (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript).
  • Ability to drive technical projects, manage priorities, and navigate ambiguity.

The YouTube Business Technology (BizTech) team focuses on the ever-evolving business and operations side of YouTube, providing tools and systems that enable Googlers to support the growth of creators, artists, and YouTube as a whole. In this role, you will support multiple domains BizTech’s Data Governance and Enablement domain power critical horizontal efforts to create a sustainable infrastructure environment, solve challenging problems in the business data space, and prepare for the next generation of AI technology and the compliance horizon.

YouTube/Video Global Solutions is the link between Google video products and sales. Our mission is to fuel innovation that keeps YouTube and Video free and accessible to the world. We do this by translating global market needs into meaningful product solutions that drive business results for content partners and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Engineers (Web Solution Engineer and Data Engineers), fostering an innovative and collaborative culture while managing recruitment and onboarding.
  • Drive the technical goal, strategy, and execution for key Data Governance and Enablement/support features, overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle (e.g., design, development, deployment, maintenance).
  • Deliver scalable, reliable systems aligned with product and business goals, including ensuring operational stability, promoting software development best practices, and developing an understanding of the YouTube and support ecosystems.
  • Manage project scoping, priorities, and technical resource allocation. Ensure the team delivers high-quality code with good test coverage, adhering to best practices.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Partner Managers, Infrastructure and Tooling Council, Consumer Support and other Engineering teams, and stakeholders to understand requirements, close product gaps, and deliver solutions. Communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
