Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Business, related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 4 years of experience managing projects or supporting the planning and development of business agreements.
  • Experience within a corporate organization, law firm, accounting firm, consultancy or government agency.
  • Experience with deal structuring and negotiation, auditing, assurance, or similar.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate, MBA, or other relevant professional certification, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Experience with any of the following: site selection for high-technology, industrial-scale projects; real estate evaluation, acquisition, development, and construction.
  • Experience or familiarity with a range of economic development issues such as indirect taxes, economic development policy, or infrastructure development.
  • Experience or familiarity with a range of issues such SOC-1/SOC-2 reviews, risk and resiliency frameworks, and audits.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally while coming up with commercially and technically creative solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain project timelines.

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As our products and services scale the globe, the Data Center Energy and Location Strategy (ELS) team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure to secure Google's future. As part of the Data Center ELS team, the Economic and Community Development team is a vertically integrated organization responsible for analyzing and mitigating economic, community and policy risks, to deliver an optimized inventory of assets meeting the operating needs of the business, and to ensure and maintain our license to operate in our markets. We provide the strategy, programs, structure, and tool sets on economic, community, and policy issues for our regional site selection, negotiation, and execution teams to consistently make high quality decisions at scale, faster, and with less risk to meet the needs of Google’s business while protecting our license to operate and effectively engaging in our data center markets.

As a Strategic Negotiator, Economic Development Assurance Analyst, you will support the cost effective development of Google Data Centers by assuring compliance with economic development agreements and providing data driven insights into location specific taxes, costs, and economic development tools. This is a dynamic role, working with specific project teams on compliance, legislative analysis and vendor management, while leading important economic development projects.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $117,000-$172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Support economic development portfolio management and compliance tracking.
  • Provide regional agreement advisory support for the drafting and negotiation of legal and commercial agreements.
  • Drive previously developed assurance and risk framework and support mitigation of identified control gaps.
  • Assist with various economic development and market advocacy team projects, including data analytics and data hygiene.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including, but not limited to, tax, finance, legal, policy, and communications on a variety of economic development matters. Conduct comprehensive research on state and local tax structures, analyzing their implications for businesses.
