Senior Software Engineer Manager, Android Experiences

  • 8 years of experience with software architecture and development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Kotlin).
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects.

  • 3 years of experience with Android, Connectivity, and media technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience working in a global organization.
  • Experience with Android development and related technologies.
  • Experience with Connectivity and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  • Passion for creating well-documented, and consistent APIs.

In this role, you will be a technical leader at the foundation of Android's evolution in connected computing. You will drive the technical direction and strategy for creating seamless, intelligent, and contextual cross-device experiences. Your work will enable devices across the ecosystem to compound each other's value, starting with the 3+ billion Android devices out there and deliver exceptional data-driven device connectivity and shape the future for our platforms and partners. You will lead the team building technologies and experiences that enable devices to work together effortlessly, and help unlock magical experiences that compound the value of devices across the entire ecosystem.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the long-term technical direction and road map for Better Together experience. You will make critical architectural decisions, ensuring the platform is maintainable, and adaptable to future needs.
  • Lead the architectural design and integration of cross-functional solutions into development and testing infrastructure. Identify opportunities to solve the most challenging problems in the multi-device ecosystem.
  • Expand existing cross-device connectivity and media interaction functionalities to new surfaces and use cases, including designing and productionizing tech stack for both first-party and third-party devices.
  • Pioneer new interactive and collaborative experiences, and enhancing Android's media and connectivity experience.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges, and provide mentorship and guidance to your team. Grow the team's technical capabilities by fostering a culture of innovation and engineering excellence, and participating in hiring.
