Cloud Deals Revenue Recognition Lead

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting principles with experience in revenue accounting (ASC 606) in a public accounting or multinational company setting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • Experience as a revenue recognition professional with deal review experience in the technology industry.
  • Experience in technical accounting assessments and operational execution with revenue agreements, including multiple performance obligations, multi-year agreements, and relative promoting price allocation.
  • Ability to communicate with senior management and cross functional business partners.
  • Ability to lead initiatives cross-functionally in a fluid environment across a large, complex, global organization.
  • Ability to work independently in a fluid environment, while being adaptable to changing responsibilities and priorities.

You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. In this role, you will be a key member of the Controllership team supporting Google Cloud, ensuring accurate business recognition under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You will conduct deal reviews of cloud agreeements, navigating customer agreements and advising and influencing deal structures to optimize financial terms for the business. You will leverage your business and accounting expertise to develop solutions for new product launches and promotions, and drive process improvements through cross-functional collaboration. This role is integral to the business reporting process, offering opportunities to work within a high-growth cross functional environment.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$180,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate business recognition by conducting deal reviews of cloud agreements, aligning with ASC606 standards.
  • Navigate customer agreements through comprehensive evaluation and business assessment documentation.
  • Influence agreement structures during discussions to enhance financial terms and support complex agreements.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge over Google products and create solutions to enable accounting for new product launches and business opportunities.
  • Participate in cross-team initiatives towards process improvements and efficiencies by incorporating business partner and team feedback and industry best practices.
